I am always eager to see what’s in and what’s out for the new year. I paid close attention while at Market in Las Vegas and then browsed Pinterest to see if, in fact, my observations were accurate. Running strong for a couple of years, and thank goodness we get another year is FARM HOUSE STYLE. Yay! My fav.
New to me is HYGGE STYLE pronounced “hoo-ga”. This is a Danish term used for living simply. It refers to cozy spaces that looked “lived in”. NIGHTSTANDS. I didn’t realize they were out or maybe they just weren’t thought of as necessary. Well, it’s predicted that they will be very popular this year.COPPER. To be honest, a couple of years ago I was not a fan, but it is starting to grow on me. This copper mixer is stunning.NAVY BLUE. I have also been finding myself drawn to this color lately. Traditionally I like lighter colors, but when done right it’s amazing. This kitchen island is a perfect example. A carry over from 2016 Benjamin Moore’s paint called Stunning is stunning and is thought to be very popular in 2017.WOOD TILES. I love this look. My fear is that it is a short phase and when you spend money on a tile installation you want it to be timeless.WHITE. Thank goodness. I was holding my breath for fear it was on it’s way out. I especially love white on ship lap. My favorite white is Benjamin Moore’s Swiss Coffee.See how when Swiss Coffee is paired with a brighter white for trim it just looks amazing.GRAY. Again yay! I love gray. Grays have been favorite for years and are predicted to be popular in 2017. Revere Pewter is very popular and I have used it in my own home. This is a fun twist. Revere Pewter on the trim and doors and Swiss Coffee on the walls. I wish I would have thought of that.As far as accents and adding a little outdoors indoors. Ferns, cotton, and magnolias are in. Thanks to Fixer Upper! Here are my two cents for what is still in…
– Touches of Burlap (don’t get crazy)
– Painted Furniture
– Anything Chippy White, Salvaged and Repurposed
– Carrera Marble (It’s classic and I will always love it)
So I hope this has been informative and fun and gives you an idea of the direction you should head with your current home decorating projects. Happy decorating!
